Quick Fact of the week

The Parke County Non-Partisan Committee on Political Education will hold a meeting on “Property Taxes – Follow-up to the June Meeting”. This event will be held on August 23rd at 9:00am at the Parke County Fairground Extension Office Conference Room. This meeting will provide a forum where you can ask questions about your Property Taxes, and even if you are happy with this year’s tax rate you can discuss what can be done to improve your position. Mark Spelbring from the Parke County Extension Office will be presenting information concerning the impact of the new State Property Tax Legislation. Commissioner Jim Meece with discuss the impact of the Property Tax Legislation, and Revenues on the County Government from the Commissioner’s perspective. Katie Potter from the Parke County Assessor’s Office will be discussing the Assessment System. County Treasurer Mary Alice Gregg will be speaking to Tax Bills and the information contained on them.

Please note: The purpose of this meeting is to better understand the Property Tax System. It is not a session to complain about your assessments, or tax bills. Please take you concerns to the County Assessor’s Office through the Appeals Process.
