Democrat Party Candidate for Parke County Council
Candidacy Announcement
Dr. Carolyn Burns is running for the office of Council at Large. Born in
Hammond, Indiana, she spent summers at her grandfather’s property in Rockville a
mile south of the old slaughter house on Bridgeton Road. Following the death of
her parents she moved to Rockville because of the fond memories of attending the
Covered Bridge and Maple Syrup festivals. Carolyn is a registered nurse for over
30 years and currently a Professor of Nursing at Indiana State University. She
received her Doctorate in Nursing from Rush University in Chicago. She also a
Crisis Consultant and has responded to people following traumatic events such as
Hurricane Andrew, the Oklahoma City bombing, 9/11, school shootings and business
tragedies.
Dr. Burns is a member of Task Force 7 which is devoted to protecting the
citizens of Indiana in the fight against terrorism, Vice President of the
Homeowners Association Board of Paradise Bay Estates and a member of Leadership
of Wabash Valley which addresses social and economic issues in the area.
